Thanks to a grandparent volunteer, our class now has a beautiful display of hands that were decorated by Ms. Jantzi's class. What a wonderful representation of the unique and very important attributes each of our students bring to Keister!
Today in Social Studies our class asked the question what are the responsibilities of a good citizen? Together, we discovered that good citizens are trustworthy by reading the story “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and discussing possible classroom scenarios where we can be good citizens.
To end our lesson, the class made promises to one another about ways that they can be a responsible citizen and make our room a better place. After each child made their promise, they taped a ring onto our chain of trust (see in the following photos). As a teacher, it is exciting to see the way our class has already begun to show love and care for one another. What excellent examples of being a good citizen! What a wonderful start to the year we have had! This first week has included a variety of activities, crafts, and yummy food projects to begin getting to know each other. I am looking forward to starting the school year with this joyful, energetic, bunch of students. It was wonderful to get and know some of our new friends at Keister's Open House today! Here are a few pictures of some of our friends visiting the classroom. It is hard to believe that in just 10 days our class will be together for the first time. These last couple weeks I have kept busy going to meetings, cleaning our room, and preparing for the adventures to come. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Sincerely, Ms. Jantzi |
